Avenue Crescent is situated between Avenue Gardens and Heathfield Road, creating the spine of the once famous Mill Hill Park Estate. This Estate – once owned by Richard White, Co-Founder in the 19th Century of the law society - still has the walls from the 1800s which separated Avenue road from the opening of the grand house and gardens which once stood there.
Richard White’s home - Regency Mansion - can still be found on this stunning tree-lined road, and there are plaques of many of the residential homes in his legacy,
The area is part of sub-area 2 of the Mill Hill conservation area, so there is a tranquil atmosphere of an early garden suburb, and the majority of houses are large in statue and set back behind sweeping driveways or front gardens. Here you find a wonderful blend of white stone and red bricks, stucco or terracotta mouldings with decorative elements, slated or tiled roofs with some timber embellishments for porches, or gables and a mix of casement or sash windows. Some of the homes have now been converted into flats, making the most of the wider plots that the houses here have.
Despite the peaceful atmosphere of this suburban residential area, residents benefit from being just a short walk from Acton Town underground, and also from having a quick route to the A40/M4. |Manoeuvring to and from the Acton Town centre is easy and Hammersmith and Chiswick are merely one Tube stop away, so the daily commute is a stress-free task.
Residents here also have two great primary schools close by: The Ark Priory and Berrymede Primary School. Acton College and Acton High School are also within walking distance, so unsurprisingly Avenue Crescent is highly popular with families. Residents have access to many green spaces and the wonderful Gunnersbury Park is close by, offering a great day out for all. It also has Mill Hill Gardens at its core, a historical formal recreational space that’s a great place to relax and read a book.
With fantastic transport links, Acton Town centre nearby - which will soon include a new Waitrose – and a plethora of green spaces, Avenue Crescent is perfect for families and young couples looking to start a family. There are excellent schools in the area, and the area also benefits from its own Residents Association, ensuring its local history is maintained.
