Lavender Hill is a popular shopping and residential street that stretches from the corner of Clapham Junction Station to the corner of Queenstown Road. Properties on the road consist of a variety of commercial properties with roughly 200 retail units, some with period conversions above and also purpose built properties and new builds. In addition, there are beautiful Victorian homes, some kept in their original form and some converted into flats. Most have been modernised but still retain original features such as high ceilings, bay windows and fireplaces.
Clapham Junction Railway Station, one of Europe’s busiest station, is located at the western end of the road. There, commuters have direct links to other main stations such as London Victoria and London Waterloo. For parking, there are a number of residential roads off Lavender Hill which are mostly for permit holders or pay and display ticket holders Monday – Saturday, 8.30am- 6.30pm. There is an option of cycling, with three public Santander docking stations on or off this main road.
The area is popular amongst the young professionals and families due to the vibrant feel of the road, community atmosphere and it being so close to the station. It is also parallel to Clapham Common, which is famous for the festivals in the summer, boot camps all year round and the open spaces for cyclist and runners. There are also a number of schools in the area, including Wix Primary School and many others.
Lavender Hill is home to many restaurants and bars. Additionally, there are numerous other shops to choose from such as the 24 hour Asda, Debenhams department store and Wholefoods. For all local residents they have the amenities of the road right on their door step. Generally residents tend to stay in the area long term as it has so much to offer.
