All three main political parties and many housing charities say they wish to see an end to no fault eviction. Research by Capital Economics for the NLA tells us that the abolition of section 21 could cause the private rented sector to shrink by 20%. This would result in rising rents and - as landlords become choosier about who they will accommodate on unlimited tenancies - even fewer properties for tenants claiming benefits. What could the future look like without section 21 and is the end of no fault eviction inevitable?
