Atherfold Road is a lovely, quiet, tree-lined street very close to Clapham North station and the high street. This street is mainly red brick Victorian properties with original features. A lot of these properties have been converted from 3 bedroom houses to 1 bedroom flats but some of the original properties have also been converted into bigger 3, 4 or even 5 bedroom properties. Many of the ground floor properties have decent sized back gardens and the first floor properties tend to have balconies with ornate features still visible from the road. Along with the red brick styling, you'll often find features such as sash windows, high ceilings, well decorated porches and a little space at the front of flower boxes and bin storage.
The location tends to attract the young professional crowd, whether that’s groups of friends or couples, and the area has a friendly neighbour feel. Many of these residents are attracted to the area’s close access to Clapham North Tube station and the delights that the high street can offer. You’re also only a few minutes away on the Tube from the bustling hub of Brixton. There are also excellent bus links going into central London, plus Clapham High Street station is nearby, which goes through to Clapham Junction and then through Surrey Quays to Wapping in the other direction. If you own a car, there is on street parking for residents if you have a permit. The borough for this area is Lambeth.
The social scene is quite simply excellent. Within a short walk there are three excellent pubs: The Falcon, The Clapham North and Red Dog South. These pubs are regularly frequented with locals, who take advantage of the beers gardens in the summer. There are also two supermarkets within close proximity, plus a range of coffee shops, hairdressers, florists, chemists and restaurants.
Atherfold Road provides the perfect mixture of peaceful living and fantastic amenities, and is an excellent area to buy or rent.
