Clapham Common South Side has a great selection of coffee shops, bars and restaurants, and it’s a real trendy area with lots going on. Shopping in the area is excellent; there are a few large supermarkets, including Tesco, Waitrose, Iceland, Sainsbury’s Local, Marks and Spencer and lots of small independent shops too.
The area benefits from great healthcare centres, dental care, opticians and pharmacies right on the doorstep. There are lots of places that cater for the active, including Clapham Club, Diving Leisure Centre, Grafton Tennis and Squash Club, and Clapham Common which boasts 220 acres of green space, an outdoor gym, tennis courts, a skate park, and basketball courts. There is always an event of some sort going on at Clapham Common, from charity fun runs to music festivals and fun fairs.
Clapham Common is overlooked by a variety of buildings, including a number of Georgian and Victorian mansions, plus Holy Trinity Clapham: an 18th Century Georgian church. There are many more places of worship in the area, such as Everyday Church Clapham, Church of Holy Spirit, St James Church and Salvation Army Hall.
Parking in the area are permits and pay and display. Most superstores will charge you for parking, but they take the price of parking of your shopping when you pay at the tills. This is to stop commuters parking here all day.
