Fulham Park Gardens is a unique road within Fulham and possesses varying styles of architecture such as large Victorian semi-detached houses, flat fronted Victorian terrace house and the increasingly prestigious Victorian "Lion House". Along this road where trees start lining the street is where the Lion Houses begin. The first Lion Houses were built by Mr J. Nicholls in the 1980s. Initially built on the grounds belonging to Peterborough House the area soon became known as the Peterborough Estate. The first Lion Houses to come to market were advertised in June 1989 for the princely sum of £300. As popularity grew for Lion Houses as did the demand and prestige they possessed, this led to a lot more being built in the area. The newer builds were often designed larger or even in a completely different variety such as the mansion blocks that line Fulham Park Gardens. The name “Lion Houses” comes from a decision by Mr J. Nicholls during construction to add a stone lion atop each of the buildings and looking over the street. There are circa 930 of the stone lions in Fulham and they now represent an acclaim of their own.

This road is extremely well located for the multiple bus routes along both Fulham Road and the New Kings Road however parking is available in the form of residential bays and pay and display. The road is covered by Hammersmith and Fulham’s controlled parking Zone U and operating hours of 9.00 am and 5.00 pm Monday to Saturday. For those who do not own a car then the road is very well located to the transport hubs of both Parsons Green underground station (0.5 miles) as well as Putney Bridge underground station (0.2 miles).

Increasingly popular with young professionals and couples this neighbourhood is popular due to its close proximity to the many shops, bars and restaurants such as the tapas restaurant Tendido Cuatro on the New Kings Road, or the farmers market held every Sunday within the grounds of Thomas’s Academy. Being close to Thomas’s Academy also makes Fulham Park Gardens appeal to families, this school has been given an Ofsted rating of Outstanding in every field and is a truly magnificent building set on beautiful premises.
