Hammersmith is situated in West London in the borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, which is sandwiched between neighbouring areas like Richmond, Wandsworth and Kensington to name a few. This area is filled with enviable community spirit and boasts outstanding schools and this is reflected in its increasing popularity.

Filled with parks and open spaces, Hammersmith is extremely popular with families. Young professionals are also flocking to this area thanks to its buzzy atmosphere and short commute to the City. Hammersmith is also known for its jam-packed sporting events including professional football tournaments and university boat races. This district encompasses modern-day and historic amenities making it a quintessentially English place to live.

Hammersmith was known for being a Saxon fishing village. Its name originally meant “place with a hammer smithy or forge” which can be traced as far back as 1294. As the area became urbanised in the 20th century, sadly much of its architectural heritage was lost, however subsequent gentrification has meant many of the Victorian streets, such as Brackenbury Village, were saved. An iconic landmark of the area is the Hammersmith Bridge which was first designed by William Tierney Clark in 1827 and it became the first suspension bridge crossing the River Thames.
