Spanning the distance between the southern corner of Clissold Park to Canonbury Station is Highbury New Park, one of Highbury's most recognisable and well-known avenues. And for good reason - Highbury New Park is a broad, mature thoroughfare, in the heart of Highbury New Park conservation area. There is no other street quite like it in Highbury.
Development of Highbury New Park began in the mid nineteenth century, accommodating a number of very large single and terraced villas, most of which still stand today. Each property enjoyed private access to land to the front and rear of the building, and the gardens remain in outstanding condition, helping promote the individuality of the street. Some of these have been split into exclusive apartments, while some have formerly housed independent schools and businesses. Highbury Park is a peaceful road, and is seldom busy with cars or traffic.
Clissold Park, Highbury Fields, and Finsbury Park are all nearby, and so picnics on a sunny summer's afternoon are a must. All three regularly host local sports clubs and fitness classes. Furthermore, Highbury's organic greengrocers, lovely coffee shops, and vintage furniture stores are all just a short walk away, too.
Highbury New Park is popular with owner occupiers looking for a little seclusion from the busier parts of Islington, Canonbury, and surrounding areas, but discerning tenants also move to Highbury New Park, too. Proximity to Canonbury Station is very good, and Highbury & Islington is nearby, too. The Tube is easily reached at Manor House or Arsenal, which both sit on the Piccadilly Line, a short distance from King’s Cross.
