Cloudesley Square is a picturesque square that sits between Cloudesley Road and Liverpool Road. The properties here are largely made up of houses that retain their original period features and remain occupied by a single household rather than a large proportion on converted flats. Take a stroll around the square and you will notice that none of the panelled doors are the same colour. The houses are positioned around a central church that dominates the square, leaving a great village feel for the residents, bang in the heart of Islington.
The majority of the parking bays are resident permit only. These can be obtained from the Islington Council on Upper Street. There are a series of pay and display spaces on the street, although these are generally unused as they are on a no-through road and have a maximum stay of two hours. People choose to live here for the peaceful scene, away from the traffic yet close by to the main high street and shopping centres.
Due to the high number of families living here this is an extremely friendly neighbourhood where many residents know one another. City commuters are attracted to the location as they have quick and easy access to transport links at nearby Angel, and the high number of excellent schools dotted around add to the pull for families. People tend to stay here for the long term, whether they own or rent the property.
Cloudesley Square is only a short walk to Upper Street for all the necessary amenities, and for anyone wanting the choice of bars and restaurants that usually grace the West End – you will find plenty of that here! The location is nicely tucked away from the busier parts of Islington, yet is still only a few minutes’ walk away.
