Gerrard Road is smack bang in the heart of the St. Peter’s area of Islington. Here you will find lovely Georgian terraces lining the street, joined by leafy green trees and of course the nearby Regent’s Canal which adds to the village feel of the area. It’s also a large reason for the ever increasing popularity of the area. The houses here are four storeys high, all with dugout basements which have either been converted to flats or expanded the space available in the properties that remain unconverted. There’s a general mix of three/four bedroom houses and flats here, which attract a range of people, from couples to families to single professionals. You’ll often find that the people living here have been here for some time.
It’s a good location for transport, just a few minutes away is Angel Tube station which operates on the London Underground, providing residents with access to the Northern Line. You can be at King’s Cross in two minutes, or to the City in the opposite direction. Old Street is also a 10 minute stroll along nearby City Road. Parking here isn’t a problem, just head to the Islington Council on Upper Street to pick up a permit.
If gastro pubs and organic foods are your thing, then this is the location for you. On St. Peter’s Street is the Duke of Cambridge Pub, Britain’s first and only organic pub, with delicious foods and beers on offer. There’s also the smart Narrowboat Pub on the canalside which has craft beers. For practicality, St. Peter’s Medical Practice is just around the corner, and there are a number of schools are nearby making it an attractive option for those with children.
If you enjoy the hustle and bustle, then Upper Street is not far from Gerrard Road. Here you can enjoy plenty of fine dining options with your friends or other half, have a catch up coffee or chill out with your new favourite book. If you prefer routing through boutique independent fashion shops, you can find those here too, or you can hop on a bus to Shoreditch which isn’t far away at all. With transport, amenities, schools, shops and restaurants, this is a great place to live.
