Directly opposite Angel tube station is White Lion Street, a small one way road off Islington High Street. Typically the street is made up of Georgian buildings, although there are a few new build developments, and even a towering Victorian mansion block, with its terracotta brickwork and pane windows making a statement opposite the portico Georgian entrances.
There’s a lovely little craft beer pub on the street, in the summer the hanging flower baskets add a pretty extra to the appearance of the street. There is parking here from 8:30am to 6:30pm, on the weekdays it’s for residents only, although the proximity to the tube station means most people living here just use this. There are also a number of buses which run along Islington High Street, and City Road is around the corner, meaning you can stroll down to Old Street if you fancy it.
With Upper Street on the doorstep it comes as no surprise that this area is full of young professionals. The bars, restaurants and cafes make Islington high on the list for those moving to the capital. With Cass Business School and London University also walking distance there are a few students residing here too. You also know that the location is great when there is a Hilton Hotel on the doorstep – this is a popular stop for those on business trips to London.
With so much going on in the immediate area, from internationally acclaimed productions at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, the Business Design Centre hosting regular events, and the high amount of choice when it comes to eating and drinking, this is a fantastic part of Islington to be based.
