Hub Health opened in Clapham in 2011 - though the place still looks brand new. It’s super easy to find, located at 192 - 194 Clapham High Street, a two-minute walk from Clapham Common Tube or our Clapham office.
Tom Fielding is the man behind the brand. He talked us through his story while walking us round the centre, which is surprisingly spacious and immaculately clean. Tom trained as a professional rugby player in Bristol, (we’d already guessed as much from his impressive physique), but his career was cut short when he suffered a bad sports injury and needed rehabilitation. Tom used the down time to take a degree in osteopathy, which inspired him to use his skill and knowledge to open Hub Health just a few years later.
The business has come on leaps and bounds in the last five years, with a growing team of over 20 professionals and a loyal local client list.
Hub Health offers four treatment rooms, which are used for osteopathy and rehabilitation. Tom explained that they don’t just offer fast, effective treatment for pain and injuries, they also work with you to develop your health and fitness to ensure you come back stronger. There’s a lovely community feel to Hub Health; all the instructors and osteopaths are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and there’s a real comradeship in the fitness classes.
The classes take place in the spacious gym. Tom saw us looking around for the equipment and was quick to explain that Hub Health’s ethos is about teaching clients how to use their own body weight to improve their fitness. Strength training is key here - and the experienced personal trainers will work with clients to teach them about their muscles, how best to use them, and how to avoid or improve sports-based injuries. And judging by those in the gym - this type of training clearly works!
