Fulham Road, which is 2.5 miles long, runs through the centre of Fulham, which is located in the Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, all the way into South Kensington, which is in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Within the area of Fulham, the Fulham Road runs parallel to the Kings Road and has numerous popular landmarks, one being Stamford Bridge football ground, which is home to Chelsea Football Club. Fulham Broadway New, where the Underground station on the District Line within Zone 2 is located, is also situated along the Fulham Road and it offers an array of restaurants and shops as well as a large Vue Cinema and a luxury David Lloyd gym.
The Fulham Road is predominantly filled with commercial property, with residential homes located above. There is however a stretch of the road closer towards Fulham Palace Road, which offers a selection of period converted flats as well as popular mansion block Drive Mansions. The street is popular amongst young professionals and families for a variety of reasons. Located on the corner of Fulham Road and Kelvedon Road is the award winning Kensington Prep School, which is an independent day school for girls aged 4-11 that is known for its outstanding academic results and fantastic facilities. The Fulham Road has also become known for its vast number of restaurants that have opened over the years. The Brown Cow, a fashionable and trendy gastropub with a rustic feel, offers not only classic dishes but also a fantastic seasonal menu, and has quickly become a local favourite. More recently Patisserie Valerie and Gail’s Bakery have opened up along the Fulham Road in SW6, which has proven to be a huge hit amongst the locals, especially on the weekends, offering delicious pastries, cakes and fresh bread.
