If you’re anything like me, the morning doesn’t start until you’ve had a good coffee and one place where you can get a good coffee is one of our favourite East London haunts, cheekily named ‘Perky Blenders’.
Perky Blenders pride themselves on their mission to provide coffee that doesn’t compromise on soil, farmer or consumer. With their coffee sourced in farms in locations which include South America and Africa, their cafés offer delicious hand-roasted bean. Alongside their coffee, they offer some pretty delicious looking cakes and pastries too (mine will be two brownies - one for now, one for later!)
From humble beginnings of selling coffee from the back of a Piaggio Ape in Walthamstow, the Perky Blenders team have now got a takeaway kiosk and two cafés - and with two more locations shortly to open - a kiosk in Walthamstow Central and a roastery and espresso bar in Leytonstone.
This year they opened their Walthamstow café in the old Magistrates building, an initiative set up by Waltham Forest Borough Council to utilise the space left when the court closed up shop. The cafés had a warm reception from locals, a great spot to catch up with friends or get your morning coffee fix.
The team have since diversified too - taking Perky Blenders as a pop-up stall to local events and offering a bespoke letterbox service now too, to service all your caffeine needs!
And the team have been lucky enough to pick up a few awards for their coffee offering – winning the Love London Awards from Time Out and being singled out by The Independent on their best coffee subscription list.
As coffee shops go, the Perky Blenders team are ticking all the boxes, and it's always good to have a go-to coffee stop whichever part of town you're in.
