Enviably located in the heart of Islington is Battishill Street, a small row of properties that overlook the namesake Battishill Street Gardens. The properties here are a handful of places in Islington that remain as houses with no conversions into flats having taken place. This largely means that the houses here are owner occupied, and the residents seem to stay put for the long term. The portico columns make these properties really stand out.
In terms of transport this is a top place to be. There are several buses which run up and down Upper Street providing access to the City and the West End. Highbury & Islington station is a five minute walk and operates on the Victoria Line on the London Underground network, and the London Overground runs into the City too.
The critically acclaimed Almeida Theatre is on the doorstep. Here you can watch productions that may one day become West End hits, as so many shows produced here have gone on to be. If you fancy a glass of wine with some friends, why not take a stroll along Upper Street until you see a bar that tickles your fancy. Or perhaps you would like to devour a perfectly cooked steak, or even fill your belly on some sushi – there’s plenty on offer here, and you only have to step out the door.
With such good transport routes and so much on offer in terms of restaurants, bars, cafes and boutiques all within a stone’s throw, Battishill Street truly is a fantastic location to live. You just have to be lucky enough to secure a property here, and once you do, you won’t want to move again!
