Being in the village-like St. Peter’s area, right by Regent’s Canal, Grantbridge Street is a lovely stereotypical Georgian street in the heart of Islington. Here you will find terraced houses that are four storeys high, some of which are one, two and three bedroom flats, converted from houses, others of which remain unconverted, keeping beautiful original features that Georgian architecture is known for. With trees lining the street, multi-coloured front panelled doors, lovely arched porticos and iron railings, this is the real Islington feel.
The location couldn’t be more practical, just off St. Peter’s Street is the St. Peter’s Medical Practice, so you don’t have to drag yourself far if you’re feeling unwell! Angel Tube station is a short walk away, and here you can jump on the Northern Line, taking you to King’s Cross in one stop, or into the City. There’s also a great pub nearby, the Duke of Cambridge, where you can sample some great organic food. In fact, it’s actually Britain’s only organic pub. There’s a number of schools in the area too, making it a popular choice for families.
Parking is no issue for residents, you just need to pick up a permit (for a small fee) from the Islington Council building on Upper Street, which is within walking distance. Here you’ll also find the heart of Islington’s shopping; you can drop into one of the boutique outlets, or relax with a freshly ground coffee in one of the independents cafes, or perhaps a glass of wine with some friends - either way, there’s no lack of choice here.
Given the great transport links and the local amenities, it is no wonder why tenants and home owners alike tend to stay in this area for the long-term. With Grantbridge Street so close to the City Canal Basin, the area is only going onwards and upwards, no pun intended. There’s new stylish developments sprouting up along the skyline of City Road, with top class facilities and new amenities planned, making this a great place to live and invest.
